Student Athletic Advisory Committee

The Loyola University Maryland committee made up of student-athletes assembled to provide insight on their experience on their team. The SAAC also offers input on the rules, regulations and policies that affect student-athletes' lives on NCAA member institution campuses.

Achievements

Swim Team
Members of the Loyola University Swim Team participate in a race to raise money for cancer research.

Active in the Surrounding Community:

The student athletes involved in SAAC are involved in various community service activities throughout the year. This year, they are having a food drive not only during the Thanksgiving season, but every month so that families are blessed with food more often.

Teams are well known for participating in charity runs, games, swims, etc. For example, the Volleyball team has a charity game and sells things to raise money for Breast Cancer research. The swim team participated in a Swim Across America event to raise awareness/money for cancer research.

Success Within Loyola Community:

SAAC is a club dedicated to representing the athletic community. This means we act to sovle any issues or concerns of athletes to help better their experience as a division 1 stuent athlete. One accomplishment over the past year has been the start of a "Refueling Station." This is a station in our weight room that has energy-filled, quick snacks to help the athlete keep their energy level up throughout the day. Some snacks to be found are: trail mix, string cheese, pretzels and hummus, greek yogurt, uncrustables sandwhich, or even a bad of pretzels with peanut butter.

Before 2014, only a few teams had the privilege of choosing classes for the following semester before everyone else chose classes. This is a huge advantage because it allows the athletes to get into the classes they need so that they do not have to miss their scheduled practice. Because of the active voice in the SAAC community, all athletes were granted this privilege so that they could make their schedule around their practice time.
