Past

Grateful Dead performing on Haight Street in San Francisco in 1968.

When one hears about San Francisco, one usually thinks about the Bridge, Full House, and the 49ers. But what many people do not think about is the rich history that San Francisco has in music.

Some of the most notable artists that started out in San Francisco are the Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, Steve Miller Band, Santana, Third Eye Blind, Journey, and Dead Kennedys.

Present

San Franciso is super expensive, there is always something going on in the city. One great website to look at is called Fun Cheap SF.

Visitors can always count on The Filmore, a classic venue that has been serving the city great music for over a 100 years. Bands like the Grateful Dead, The Steve Miller Band, Santana, The Who, The Doors, and The Jimi Hendrix Experience, are just a couple bands to have the privilege to perform at the Filmore.

Future

San Francisco will continue to carry the music tradition and will forever be a Mecca for rock and roll. Not everyone can become a great artist. But a great artist can come from anywhere.

In the non-music related world of sports, anybody can catch a game from a wide range of teams. For professional teams, we have the SF 49ers, Oakland Raiders, SF Giants, Oakland Athletics, Golden State Warriors, and the San Jose Sharks. There is plenty to do in the Golden State.
