Protect Your Hair with Care

Protective style ideas!

Protective Styler

Whether you are in the beginning stages of your transitioning process or are already beautifully natural, protective styling is always a go-to in order to give your hair a breather.

By doing a protective style you have chosen to protect your new hair growth with either braids, twists, crochet, or extensions. These are only a few examples of what styles you can do, as you get more familiar with protective stylng you will find yourself doing many different styles in various colors, sizes, lengths, and much more.

Three things you should follow to make sure your protective style is actually protecting your hair:

1) Do not change styles often! Find a style that suites you and wear it for six-eight weeks. After taking the style out, allow your new growth and natural hair to breathe for about two weeks before wearing a new style.

2) Moisturize and clairfy your scalp daily! Find your favotire clarifying (sulfate free) shampoo to wash your scalp. This will remove product build up without stirpping your hair of its nutrients. Use your favorite leave-in conditioner (silicone free) to moisturize both hair and scalp. Use a lightweight oil as a sealent for your scalp.

3) Wear your style in an updo! Over time as your new growth grows out the extensions can weigh it down, putting pressure on your hair. To prevent breakage wear your style up in a bun or fancy ponytail.
