It's Palooza Season...
Loyola held its annual
Loyolapalooza Festival on the Academic Quad on Sunday, April 29th. The spring concert is open and free to all students and faculty.
Loyolapalooza had many free giveaways for students such as beach towels, hats, and water bottles. Students also ate hot dogs, sausages, nachos, and water ice.
The festival had a fun carnival ride, called The Sizzler, that would spin riders around at a fast speed. It wasn't a surprise when everyone came off the ride feeling extra dizzy and losing their balance.
Performers at Palooza
One of the best parts of Loyolapalooza are the entertainers. The acapella group, the Greysounds, performed a few songs, followed by performances by students Thalia Falcon and Blest Jones.
Thalia commented on her set as she said, "Performing at Loyolapalooza was the most memorable moment during my time at Loyola. It was an incredible feeling seeing the amount of people who came out to support me."
People also brought along cardboard cut outs of Thalia's face and cheered from the crowd. She also loved the unity of the moment as "releasing music has brought people at Loyola together."
The best moment of the show was the performance by rapper and singer
Sean Paul, who has been singing since the late 90s. Loyola hired Paul as the feature guest and performer.
Sean Paul came on stage towards the end of the event and entertained students with some of his hit songs such as "Temperature" and
"No Lie" featuring Dua Lipa.
Memories to Last a Lifetime
The crowd loved the show as senior Jessica Fu stated, "It was so cool to see Sean Paul in person. I've always been a fan of his music and was glad when I found out he would be performing."
This year's Loyolapolooza was one to be remembered. All of the performances and festivities entertained the students and guests on a beautiful and sunny day.
