The Loyola Dance team is Loyola's spirit team that dances at Men and Womens basketball and lacrosse games. They are a representation of Loyola on and off the court/field. LUDT's mission is to function as a spirit support group, and represent the University, Department of Recreational Sports, and Athletics in a positive manner.
Game day is one of the most exciting experiences involved with being on the team. The girls cheer on the sidelines during warm up, and their performances are a gift to halftime and time outs. "Cheering both the men and womens teams on while doing what I love is my favorite part of being on the team", said junior Dana Sullivan.
The dance team holds tryouts in the Spring Semester in order to prepare for the upcoming season. Once Basketball season begins, the girls are in full swing and are busier than ever. Their exciting schedule between practices, games, and fundraising keeps them on their toes...literally!
Our performing goes beyond halftime and timeout. Each game we welcome the men's and women's teams out to the court. We love getting the crowd excited!
We arrive 1 hour and 30 minutes before each game. We spend time warming up, stretching, and going through routines. Once 30 minutes rolls around, the team gathers on the field/court and begin cheering their hounds on!
Not only do we want to perform well, but we also want to look good doing it! Our uniforms consist of various Loyola gear and most importantly our poms.
