Study Abroad: Weekend Destinations

Adventuring In Athens, Greece

I lived in Athens, Greece for four months while studying at The American College of Greece Here, I took four classes in person and one online class through Loyola University Maryland. I was able to travel all over Athens, as well as the Greek islands Aegina, Crete, and Poros.

Wondering What To Do?

When in Greece, there are a few of MUST Do's. The first on everyone's list is a visit to the Acropolis. The Acropolis is one of the major symbols of Greece. Here, you will find the ruins of the Parthenon, the Erechtheon, the Propylaea and several other significant momuments.

While in Greece, I tried some of the most delicious and freshest foods that I ever had. The traditional Greek salads, gyros and souvlaki, yogurt and honey, and baklava were all delictable. Besides these foods that many typically know, I urge you to branch out and try new things,
(even if you can't read or pronounce the menu!)

For instance, my favorite food was saganaki, or σαγανάκι, which is fresh feta fried and drenched in honey. Two other classic Greek dishes are the pastitsio and moussaka.

Greece is a wonderful destination lined with beautiful beaches and clear blue water. It's filled with the freshest foods and lively nightlife. And above all, it is a place with the a rich culture and ancient history.
