Study Abroad: Weekend Destinations

Vacationing in Venice, Italy

I went to Venice toward the end of 2019. At this point, the major flooding it experienced that Fall was dying down but, there was still more flooding than usual.
Nevertheless, it was a gorgeous city filled tons of charm and little surprises.

Wondering What To Do?

An absolute must do while visiting Venice would be taking a Gondala ride. No matter who you are traveling with, this is something everyone should experience. These gondala are driven by professionals and they take you around the city. Our driver whistled as we took in our surroundings, gliding through the labrynth of canals.
You will see how the winding roads of water create a fun and enchanted ambiance (as long as you don't drop your phone in them!)

You will also need to visit the famous Rialto Bridge that crosses over the Grand Canal. This is the photo-op spot splattered all over social media, and there is a good reason for it! In addition, St. Mark's Basilica and St. Mark's Square are gorgeous. Not only this, but the square is filled with wonderful shops displaying Murano glass.

You cannot forget about the food while traveling Italy! The pasta is fresh and delicious, as it is throughout the country. But, don't forget about the risotto, gnocchi, or fish dishes! Also, it is a necessity to try limoncello. It is an Italian classic and great after dinner drink.
